2005 ‘Chloe’ Chardonnay

The 2005 vintage could best be described as classic. It was a slightly cooler year than 2004, producing finer and more linear Chardonnays.

2005 was also a low cropping year for our Chardonnay, with a yield of around 1.5 tonnes per acre from our Gingin clone vines.

Our 2005 ‘Chloe’ Reserve Chardonnay was fermented at cool cellar temperature, with the lees stirred once a day during primary fermentation. Following primary fermentation, the wine was left on lees to enhance complexity. Our ‘Chloe’ spent a total of 12 months in French oak, half new and half one year old.

Tasting Note September 2010

This wine has an intense straw colour.

The nose shows toasty struck flint, nectarine, quince, hazelnut and praline notes.

The palate is rich and mouth filling, with vibrant acid and nutty burnt caramel and marzipan characters.
